We’re currently looking for a Director of Operations to build that operational backbone from the ground up.
The Role
This is a builder role, not a caretaker role. You’ll design and stand up our operations function from the ground up — the processes, the tooling, the partners, and eventually the team. You’ll be the person who turns a fast-moving early-stage operation into something repeatable, measurable, and scalable, and you’ll stay close enough to the work to know when it isn’t.
You’ll own our vendor and partner relationships end to end, and as we grow, you’ll hire and lead the team that runs day-to-day operations. Expect to be hands-on first and a leader second — for a while, at least.
What You’ll Do
- Build the operations function from scratch — processes, workflows, tooling, documentation, and the metrics that show whether any of it is working.
- Own vendor and partner management end to end: selection, negotiation, onboarding, SLAs, and ongoing performance.
- Hire, lead and develop the operations team as the company scales — starting with the first hires and the structure they work in.
- Define and own operational KPIs — throughput, quality, cost, turnaround — and build the reporting that makes them visible.
- Work closely with engineering and product teams to translate operational needs into systems, and to automate work rather than staff around it.
- Establish sensible operational controls, escalation paths, and incident handling as the business grows.
- Find the bottlenecks before they find us — and fix them.
What We’re Looking For
- A builder, not an administrator — someone who has created and led operational processes.
- Proven experience leading operations, ideally 5+ years, including time in a leadership role.
- Track record of managing and developing teams.
- Strong vendor and partner management — negotiation, SLAs, and holding people to them.
- Data-driven: comfortable defining, owning, and being measured by KPIs.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage pace — able to operate without a playbook and write one as you go.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Hands-on. Happy to do the work, not just direct it.
Nice to Have
- Experience in FinTech, financial services, or another regulated / high-reliability
- Experience scaling an operation through a period of rapid growth.
- Familiarity with modern AI tools and automation applied to operational workflows.
- Experience selecting and implementing operational tooling and process automation.
