Job Description

Are you a talented lawyer with a qualification in Cypriot, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian or Polish law? Then you might be who the European Court of Justice is looking for to work in the Research and Documentation Directorate.

The Court of Justice of the European Union interprets EU law to make sure it is applied in the same way in all EU countries. It settles legal disputes between national governments and EU institutions. Individuals and organisations can also, under certain conditions, bring cases before the Court if they feel an EU institution has infringed their rights.

As a lawyer specialised in legal research, you will assist the Court of Justice and the General Court in carrying out their judicial duties and help disseminate EU case law. You will carry out analyses of case law of the courts and preliminary analysis of new cases. You will also research EU and national law as well as comparative law. You if you are an experienced lawyer, you will also steer field specific projects, and design and refine legal research tools and tools for disseminating national and EU law.

Do you have what it takes to apply?

You must be an EU citizen and have a thorough knowledge of the language of the Member State where you obtained your legal qualification, as well as a satisfactory knowledge of French.
