Job Description

Senior Purchasing Officer, Limassol – SPO/10/20

Our client a company that operates in the field of Retail, is searching for an experienced purchasing professional

The position holder will report to the GM and main duties are the following

  • Responsible for the implementation of the management and development of the product category / categories of its area of responsibility, taking into account all the parameters that determine the strategic planning of the company
  • Formulates the pricing policy concerning the products of its area of responsibility, aiming at the competitive advantage of the company’s stores and the achievement of the maximum possible profit; taking into account the respective pricing policy of the competition and the interest of the customers
  • Takes responsibility for closing annual agreements with suppliers of products in his/her area of responsibility
  • Ensures the implementation of the obligations arising from the annual agreements with the suppliers
  • Designs and develops private label products, aiming to create a complete product category and the optimum relationship between quality and price of products
  • Constantly monitors the products in its area of responsibility through the company’s central warehouses and controls the stock
  • Continuously communicates with Store managers and aims at the immediate solution of possible problems, the immediate response to the requests of the Store managers and the establishment of a relationship of mutual trust and effective cooperation.
  • • monitors the competition and market developments in order to improve both his/her negotiation skills and overall work in terms of the competitiveness of products in the area of responsibility
  • Acts on the basis of achieving the objectives, taking into account all relevant parameters (turnover, gross profit, additional revenue), in order to ensure the maximum possible effectiveness of the product categories included in its area of responsibility
  • Responsible for determining the variety of products placed in the new and renovated stores of the company, taking into account the limitations arising from the respective ideal store and the specifics of each area
  • Visits our stores, as well as the stores of the competition, in order to have the best possible picture of the products on the shelf


  • University degree in Finance, Business Administration and other related fields
  • At least 3 years in a similar position in the FMCG and / or retail sector
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Very good knowledge of Greek and English (written and spoken)
  • Communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Business acumen and market knowledge
  • Negotiation skills
  • Self-motivation and enthusiasm
