POSITION SUMMARY:

The Demand Planner reports directly to the Warehouse Manager and is responsible for the strategic sourcing and forecasting activities associated with warehouse inventory, and products of both food and non-food categories. The demand planner is responsible for ensuring that the company has the right products, at the right place and at the right time to meet the needs of the internal customers or business units, and to satisfy the demands of the external customers. The demand planner is to proactively conduct market, supplier, and product research for the assigned commodity categories to analyze product’s internal and external environmental impact, cost drivers, trend, potential issues and risks. With knowledge and expertise, the demand planner is to develop sourcing strategy (where to purchase, considering the demand and supply situations, while minimizing risk and costs) for the commodity to ensure consistent supply of quality products at the best possible pricing for Melco and guard against potential risk /supplier issues. Continuously improves and re-evaluates sourcing activities of the categories, develops strategic partnership with highly capable suppliers, and represent the company in all dealings and negotiation with the suppliers. Conducts and evaluates scheduled market list bidding, leads the pricing negotiation and recommends suitable suppliers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts and monitors the assigned commodity market research, analysis, and trend projection
  • Develops demand and/or operational statistical forecasts by gathering and analysing data
  • Reviews historical order trends, researches demand drivers, prepares forecast data, develops statistical forecast models, and evaluates forecast results
  • Develops sourcing strategy for the assigned commodity to ensure consistent supply of the quality products at the best pricing and guard against potential supply issues/ risks
  • Manages all supply contracts and establishes a contingency plan for core products
  • Facilitates and/or changes new product rollouts in a timely manner
  • Familiarization and acts in accordance with Supply Chain policy and procedure manual
  • Performs any other Ad-Hoc duties as instructed by the Management
  • Process Improvement and cost saving activities
  • Identifies items that can be standardized for COD Mediterranean in order to leverage on volume purchase and generate cost-saving
  • Continuously searches for new products, technologies or methods for potential savings
  • Tracks and quantifies cost savings and other benefits to be communicated back to property
  • Works closely with SC Logistics/Warehousing to facilitate smooth flow of centralized food and beverage distribution model
  • Responsible for all documentation retention related to the market list bidding, product sourcing (quotations), and requestor complains

  • Percentage of 86 items
  • Cost Savings Initiatives
  • Product sourcing in a timely manner
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and meeting deadlines are all required skills
  • On time issuance of purchase requests for stock inventory replenishments
  • Monitoring of open purchase requests, ensuring conversion to purchase orders
  • Obsolete stock management and make delisting proposals for non-performing products

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience

  • At least three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience directly related to the duties of the position
  • Diversified background with significant exposure to Supply Chain management and strategic sourcing
  • Experience in the Hotel Industry will be considered as an advantage
  • Experience forecasting in a consumer products environment utilizing Purchasing System based products

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or any other relevant

Skills / Competencies

  •   Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and collating report summaries
  •   Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products with advanced Excel skills
  •   Demonstrates strong strategic thinking, negotiation, analytical and coordination skills
  •   Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited data exists
  •  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
