On behalf of our Client, the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), a novel non-profit Research, Innovation and Technology development Center of Excellence being established in Larnaca with funds from EU’s Teaming program; the Government of Cyprus and Industry stakeholders, we are seeking to recruit a high caliber individual for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the Institute, whilst representing the organization in the local community and abroad. More specifically, the successful incumbent will be responsible for formulating and implementing operational policies and carrying out recommendations made by the Board; for leading, developing implementing a strategic plan and decisions with regards to the direction of the Institute; and for creating, communicating and implementing the organization’s vision, mission and culture. Furthermore, the CEO will be responsible for acting as the primary spokesperson for the company, building alliances and partnerships with other organizations; working with senior stakeholders, company senior executives and staff and providing inspired leadership company-wide. Finally, the CEO will be responsible for overseeing the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing; assuring all legal and regulatory documents are filled and monitoring compliance with laws and regulations; and for overseeing any investment planning and implementation required.
Holder of a Bachelor and a Master Degree in Business/Finance/Economics/ Marine/Maritime Technology/ Engineering or any other relevant field and/or a Professional Qualification holder (ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA)
A minimum of 5 years of working experience in a similar position, involving management of more than 40 staff members and more than €7m budget per annum
Previous working experience in the Marine or Maritime industry will be considered as a strong advantage
Experience with EU programs and projects; familiarity with EU instruments and bodies will be considered as a strong advantage.
Experience with corporate governance
Excellent knowledge of the English language. Proficient use of the Greek language will be considered as an advantage.

Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Excellent people management and highly refined interpersonal skills, with ability to lead, motivate, build consensus and relationships among executives, partners, and the workforce

The company offers a remuneration package of €120.000 – €150.000 Gross Annually plus a Performance-related Bonus.
